I'm not working so hard anymore

First day back at work after having my HA fine-tuned.  Still not perfect hearing but I knew that going in.  I miss some things with all the background noise going on.  It was pretty clear before I tried this that HA hearing was not going to be normal, healthy hearing.  Even normal hearing people would have trouble hearing everything in the environment I work in.
What I noticed today was that I am using much less energy and concentration just trying to listen, piece together context and figure out what was said.   After a full 12 hr shift, I am much less tired than I was before the HA.  I am definitely catching more and I don't have to focus my attention at all times.  I can be doing another task and still hear requests from the table, so it is easier with HA.
I have been informally learning ASL.  Think I have the alphabet down.  Some numbers.  Reading a book that covers phrases and language, not just the alphabet.  Plan to take a class at the community college after christmas.
The Tinnitus is really loud tonight.  Hope I can sleep.
